Biography

Mаtthew D. Shell focuses his practice on strategic tax planning and counseling clients in a broad range of tax matters. He handles mergers and acquisitions, sophisticated tax strategies, international tax, state and local tax, business successions, tax credits, and other tax incentives, as well as estate planning, probate and trust administration, and family offices. Additionally, Matt has extensive experience advising tax-exempt organizations, including both public charities and private foundations. As such, he is experienced with donor-advised funds, supporting organizations, charitable trusts, and other complex charitable structures. Moreover, Matt has experience serving as outside general counsel for small businesses and advising on entity formation and legal administration matters.

WHAT MAKES ME UNIQUELY ME

When I’m not working, I love to travel and spend time with my family.

I am almost perpetually in training mode for my next marathon and have completed numerous marathons, including the Boston Marathon and Chicago Marathons, multiple times each.

I am an avid sports fan, especially football and college basketball.

I am passionate about my community and serve on the board of my local downtown development authority and other local nonprofit organizations.
