Biography

Raina S. Mehta is Counsel in the firm’s Real Estate Group, where she advises institutional, nonprofit, and mission-driven clients on complex real estate development and financing transactions, with a particular focus on community and economic development initiatives. She also counsels clients on entity formation and structuring, board governance, compliance, and risk management.

Raina brings significant experience representing institutional and real estate clients in sophisticated commercial real estate and finance matters.  Prior to joining the firm, she served in-house at PNC Bank, supporting its Commercial Real Estate line of business. She also held a senior supervisory role in the Real Estate and Institutional Finance Practice Group at one of the largest law firms in the Greater Philadelphia area, where she represented institutional clients in commercial finance and real estate transactions.

Her practice is further informed by a strong background in public interest advocacy, affordable housing, and community and economic development.  As a supervising staff attorney for a nonprofit public interest law organization, Raina led a team of attorneys and advised nonprofit developers and community-based organizations on affordable housing and other complex real estate transactions, policy advocacy, and legal strategies designed to advance inclusive development and systems-level change. Her work reflects a commitment to using legal and financial tools to help build stronger, more equitable communities.

Raina teaches U.S. Housing Law and Policy as an Adjunct Professor at Temple University Beasley School of Law, where she guides students through the legal, historical and policy frameworks shaping the housing landscape today.
