The role of HVAC systems in commercial settings (offices, hotels, restaurants and factories) is going to change in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. No longer will energy-efficient heating/cooling be sufficient; in the future, HVAC systems will also need to address air purity and the elimination of airborne pathogens. Employees will be anxious; employers may face liabilities, either legal (OSHA) or commercial (perception of unsafe working conditions).
